Hello

My name is Edgaras, thats all you need to know. Of course it's a joke. I'am from Lithuania, most of you don't even know where is "Lithuania" and even what is it? So just look at the picture and you will see where is Lithuania. Okay enough of the geographic lessons, it's time to business.
As you can see i live near, Latvia, Poland, Russia, Estonia, Byelorussia, Czech and other countries. For some time ive been monitoring the politic events between Russia and Western Europe and of course US. With your local knowledge and mine we can together reach pretty good goals. We can put everything in order, and avoid miss-understandings. It's vital to find out whats going to happen next and i think i have some theories which could really work out. Anyway this is my post and thats all, i just wanted to say hi.

Hello Ed. So what do you think about this whole Kosovo thing? Personally, I think recognizing their separatism was a mistake.

Every time we are nice to the Moslums, what do we get as thanks?

Another car bomb.

Well it's pretty hard to say anything yet, because kosov, problem is still in progress. But the main thing which caused most of the problems is that most of strongest Western Europe countries(NATO members) accepted kosovo's independence. Not only that, but US accepted too, now let's just think. C. Rice said that they want to have good relationships with US and she criticized my president of telling that there is a cold war going on between US and Russia. So if they want to have good relationships with Russia why did they accepted kosovo independence? It's obviously that this decision will make things worse. Not only that US wants to include kosovo into NATO. The Russia is really mad about that. And from Russian side it doesn't seem that US wants good relationships with them.
I don't have my own opinion about kosovo yet. It seems that in kosovo region lives about 90% Albans and 10% Serbians. I fear one thing, that this kosovo's independence thing might inspire Russian people who live in Estonia to declare independence - although it's a very unlikely thing, but possible. Russia supports Serbia and US supports kosovo, its like they are using kosovo as a tool to play their most beloved politic games. Let's not forget kosovs independence might inspire and cause Georgia to split. This could bring a lot of problems and instability in the region and even force might be used.

I see it as basically setting the stage for the same problems Benjamin Disraeli created back in the 1870s w/ the Eastern Question.

BD tried to contain the Russian Empire by supporting the Ottoman Empire. When the Ottomans violently quelled the Christian Bulgarian uprisings, BD supported the Moslums against the Christians. William Gladstone supported the Bulgarians, although it would have also benefited the Russian Empire. Gladstone was of no real help because he was not the British Prime Minster at the time.

This failure to adequately protect the Christian populations living along the Black Sea directly resulted forty years later in the the beginning of WWI, the fall of the Russian Empire, violent suppression of the Orthodox Church, and the rise of Communism in Eastern Europe.

One hundred years later, the problem still isn't solved. I don't think this is going to help it any.

Not to steal Ed's thread, but I think that whole situation is a powder keg fixing to ignite. It has turned into a Tom Clancy Novel Scenario. Like the Cold War is fixing to come back into play and it honestly wouldnt surprise me if that were to occur.

I quite frankly don't know enough about the situation except that Kosvo pissed off the Chinese and Ruskies and a few others by declaring Independence and in retaliation the US, British, Croation, and Turkish Embassy was attacked. Now what pissed me off is how quickly we gave them the US Embassy. What example does that set for other "Protesters" and Islamic Radical Groups?

Now Kosvo declared its independence..How much longer until Taiwan follows suite?
